Spy Games I (2003)
The meeting place was inside the Koffler Student Services Building on U of T's campus. We arrived at about twenty to four, the first ones to make it, or so it appeared. After a bit of roaming we found a small uninteresting basement, the washrooms, and flame0ut of UEC doing the waiting thing on his own. As we conversed, a man wearing a large backpack came out of the men's room and grinned as we murmured, "Trespassing!" He turned out to be Kowalski, conqueror of York University's steam tunnels. This was getting very, very interesting. Minutes passed and people trickled in. Avatar-X, admin of the message board, popped up along with Nvr2loud and DJ. Persephone and a friend of hers showed up. Wanderlust materialized out of nowhere. Others, too many for me to remember (sorry people, I really tried!), gathered gradually until we formed a conspicuous group of about twenty people chatting about flashlights, asbestos, and the loopholes in the criminal Code. Then it was Ninjalicious' turn to appear, along with Liz, Harpocrates and friends. And the game was on. We are going to have scans of the game "manual" soon, but for now let me explain the game's workings. There were six targets, identified by stickers, located inside a city block of buildings of the U of T's campus. Our job, as Authorized Agents, was to infiltrate the buildings and get pictures of all six of them. However, Guards from the Forces of Evil patrolled the installations. If any group of or individual explorers were spotted, the Guard(s) would yell "Freeze!" and could brainwash one of the Agents into becoming a Guard, unless that particular Agent had a Visitor's Pass on him. Thus, every time an Agent was captured, he simultaneously bolstered the side of Evil and weakened his former side. As the Montreal boys, we wanted to get as far as possible to impress the local crowd, and so Tux and I settled on sticking together. But a larger team for recon was not a bad idea, so we allied ourselves with Asher, WiZDoM, flame0ut, Kowalski, and Wanderlust. |
