Spy Games I (2003)

Still not tired by all this exploration, Asher, WiZDoM, Tux and I took leave of Kowalski and Wanderlust and decided to meet up with Exka|ibur, a well-known Toronto-area explorer who regularly posts on the message board. Two of his friends picked us up at a metro station and took us to the Don Valley Brickworks, a former plant which is now abandoned. Full of asbestos and drunken teenagers, it was an intricate place with enough machinery to poke your eyes out. And dust! The dust! We clambered up various ramps and stairs, roofed the place, and tried to take pictures of the Toronto skyline. The Brickworks itself is not too high, but it was worth it. Check out the rather large gallery here.

By the time we were finished the teenagers had left. Our group climbed up a nearby steep hill to a cool monument dedicated to a close-by bridge, where Tux got a much better shot of Toronto. We took in the fresh 2:00 AM air and rested our tired feet. That was one hell of a day! However, due to the number of people (eight in total) and the availability of only six seats in the car, Exka|ibur's friend had to make two trips, one to a residential area not too far away, and then one all the way to Barrie for us. Dude, wherever you are, you have my thanks!

At 4:00 AM we finally fell into bed, battered and exhausted. We slept until eleven-thirty, at which point Tux and I woke up and realized we had to somehow make it back to Montreal tonight. We called for a cab, thanked the UEC peeps many times for hosting us, and then took our leave. At Union Station we opted for the Via Rail train, which took a considerably shorter amount of time to make the Toronto-Montreal trip. The fare for a one-way ticket was 110$, though! Steep. When we arrived at Central Station in our beloved city of Montreal, we were greeted by this hunk of junk:

It's just between you and me... Smashed car...

And that, as they say, is it. Thanks for reading. And next year… The Authorized Agents shall triumph!
